
Thermal spray coating
A surface treatment in which coating material is melted at high temperature and driven onto the part surface at high velocity to form a film. HVOF, plasma, arc and flame processes are selected to suit the material and the required properties; part size is not a major constraint and the work can be carried out on site.

- Plasma
- above approx. 10,000°C, approx. 350 m/s, high-melting oxide ceramics
- Flame
- approx. 3,100°C, 150 m/s, thick coatings
